This year we celebrated the Association's 37th annual conference in the wonderful city of York. The four-day conference was well attended by members from all around the globe. The multi translation tracks were a great success and allowed us to create an environment where astrologers of many languages could join together and enjoy a high calibre of astrological information and learning.
A tremendous amount of voluntary work was given to make this conference a success and we would like to take this opportunity to thanking everyone who contributed. From those who have worked on planning and organising the conference: Patrick Casey and his office staff for their patience and hard work; the technical and taping staff, the translators who worked endlessly translating both before and during the conference; the volunteers, who supported the registration desk and those assisting speakers; Jean Elliott and her team at the astrological garden, the room monitors; those who have provided conference activities, the first aiders. Thank you also to the organisations, delegates, exhibitors that continuously support the AA; Margaret Cahill and Barnaby who work extremely hard for the AA bookshop; and of course, the wonderful faculty of speakers. Finally, we would like to thank Roy Gillett for his major contributions in making this conference possible and his vision, energy and commitment that made it such a great success.
This was indeed a very special conference and one we hope will set a precedent for all organisations and future conferences in the following years. If you would like to view photos from the conference please visit the AA website at www.astrologicalassociation.com
Next year's Conference will be held in Hertfordshire at Hatfield University (just North of London and close to Luton airport) between the 1st and 3rd of September, with optional workshop days on the 31st August and 4th September. You can look forward to a great line-up of international speakers, who will continue the advancement of astrology in beautiful surroundings with excellent facilities. Look out for the brochure in the January mailing.
News for and about local groups now has its own section inside Transit magazine. This issue contains exciting news from the Astrological Association regarding a free place at conference for one lucky local group member. Go to the Local Groups Page for details.
The Date and Venue for the Research Conference which is to be held in the spring of 2006 will be advertised in the January mailing of Council News.
This position was advertised in the previous council news. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Correlation has been delayed and will be sent out late November. The deadline for applications has been extended until the 31st December 2005.
The new council was appointed at the AGM on 3rd October 2005. We say goodbye to Caroline Harben who over the past year has done a tremendous amount of work for the AA and we would like to take this opportunity in thanking her and wishing her all the very best for the future. At the AA November meeting, the Council will welcome Chris Mitchell who has kindly agreed to be co-opted onto the Council. Over recent years, Chris has always actively promoted the AA and voluntarily helped us, particularly at conferences. Chris's position on Council will be to take on the advertising and marketing of the Journal.
We would like to thank those who sent in applications for the position of Advertising Manager. All applications were of high calibre and we appreciate those who took the time to apply. The position has now been filled by Chris Mitchell who will be co-opted onto the Council and will be taking on the position in a voluntary capacity.
