30th April 2005: Revisioning Jupiter A workshop with Melanie Reinhart. Jupiter is the largest of the classical planets, and with its many moons it resembles a small solar system, just as Zeus, the equivalent god from Greek mythology, was the King of Olympus. During this day we will engage both the astronomical and the mythic to consider the traditional astrological meanings of Jupiter, the ‘great benefic’, and its signs of Sagittarius and Pisces and the 9th and 12th houses. We will also explore the deeper understanding of Jupiter's themes that has been evoked by Pluto's transit through Sagittarius. We discuss and reconsider faith, fundamentalism, futures and other expressions of Jupiter in this light. As Pluto approaches the last part of Sagittarius we reflect on the quality, meaning and significance of this transit, globally and personally. As this part of the sky also contains the Galactic Centre, we will explore the symbolism of this point which, has been found to associate with religion and spiritual matters. Melanie Reinhart has been a professional astrologer since 1975, and is a prize-winning Diploma Holder of the Faculty of Astrological Studies. She also recently won the prestigious Charles Harvey Award given by the Astrological Association. Melanie has taught for some of the world’s leading astrology schools in the UK and abroad, and maintains a busy consulting practice. Melanie writes for Caduceus magazine (see www.caduceus.info).
