Hallo - a New Year and a new start! In January's Transit, we have old favourites David Fisher and Jenni Dean Harte; Council News has an announcement of the next AA Conference; Glenda Cole has some good news for local astrology groups;Frank Clifford has scooped the birth data of both David Beckham and Michael Owen; Chris Ogilvie looks at the mystery of a modern-day Lady of the Lake; finally, Caroline Gerrard pays tribute to Alfred Anderson, Britain's last survivor of World War 1.

This, of course, is the time when everyone is publishing their predictions for the coming year. So, here are my predictions for 2006

This year, I predict:

that some of you will become parents;
that some of you will get married;
that some of you will fall in love for the first time;
that some of you will fall in love for the last time;
that some of you will get wonderful jobs;
that some of you will leave horrible jobs;
that some of you will be justly rewarded for your efforts;
that some of you will achieve your dearest wish;
that some of you will achieve inner peace;
that some of you will learn great truths;
that some of you will discover wisdom;
that every one of you will experience many moments of happiness, joy and contentment!
