Travel to and around York

TRAVEL FROM YORK CITY CENTRE TO YORK UNIVERSITY, HESLINGTON CAMPUS

The Railway station is situated in Station Road

The main bus station is at Rougier Street, less than 400 yards from the Railway station
National Express buses stop at the railway station

A number of companies operate buses to the University: the Nos. 4 and 64 depart from the railway station. The scheduled journey time from the railway station to Heslington is 20 minutes.

Other services are the 27, 28 and 29.

Alternatively you can take a taxi from the Rail Station ( estimated journey time is 10 minutes)

TRAVELLING FROM OUTSIDE OF UK

It need not cost a lot of money to travel to England. There are quite a few cheap flights from all over Europe. You can check on www.ryanair.com or www.easyjet.com (Both sites have multi-lingual pages). There are also many other air carriers based in the UK and other Countries. As well as the London airports (Heathrow, Gatwick, or Stansted ), there may be cheap flights to Humberside, Leeds/Bradford, and Manchester International airports. Also if you wish to bring your car from the Continent, Hull Ferryport is only an hour by road from York.


FROM HEATHROW

Travel by London Underground from Heathrow to London Kings Cross. Travel by train from London Kings Cross to York.

FROM STANSTEAD

Travel by train from Stansted airport to Seven Sisters then by London Underground to London Kings Cross. Travel by train from London Kings Cross to York.

FROM MANCHESTER AIRPORT

Trains run direct from Manchester airport to York

FROM LEEDS/BRADFORD AIRPORT

Leeds is the nearest mainline rail station to Leeds/Bradford Airport (about 10 miles away). Take Airline Bus Service No.757 from the airport to Leeds Station from where you can catch a train to York. At York rail station you can take either a bus or taxi to the Heslington Campus of The University of York.

FROM HULL FERRY PORT

Trains run direct from Hull railway station to York. Check with http://www.nationalrail.co.uk for journey details and timetables.(A No 23 or 24 bus will take you from the ferry terminal to Hull Railway station.) Please check: http://www.hullcc.gov.uk/maps/index.php for confirmation and time-table.
Buses, an a X46 will take you from Hull to York city centre.

Uncl. Junction for York University
At traffic signals turn right unclassified (signposted University, Heslington) In 0.6 mile at mini-roundabout turn right
